magOwl & Cody McClaine – “The Constant”

magOwl & Cody McClaine – “The Constant” (prod. by magOwl)

This is something done in the same Producer/Rapper tandem, such as Eric B. & Rakim, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Gangstarr, and The Away Team.

In short, I was feeling his entry into Louis Den’s 85th challenge (flip what was no. 1 on top 40 when you were born) so I had to let it be known.  Later, I rhetorically asked if it would be possible to rock on some of his stuff.  He had heard “Project DePina” and def approved of that, which leads us to this joint.

I had fun writing to this, after the laughter that I had received about having to do all of these things to be noticed as a rapper, except knowing how to rap well.  I look at all that phases that I’ve been put against and to see that I’m still at it regardless of the “new danger at the time.”

- Cody McClaine

Yup yup, the first collaboration between myself and Mr. McClaine. As he said, expect more.

Italo+ | A Mixtape

Had a listen to the whole thing today and it seems it dropped a couple of tunes towards the end, no idea why. I can’t replace the audio on mixcloud, but I’ve replaced the download (link below).

Almost 2 hours of Italo Disco, although there are a couple of tunes I wouldn’t necessarily classify as Italo on here as well. This is the mix I promised after I ran Italo Week, so after a slight delay here it is. The tunes are a selection of the vinyls I’ve found in the 80s DJ collection I bough a while back (there are probably more as I still haven’t gone through all of them).

I make no claims of being a “real” DJ or anything (I just have lots of music) but I do try my best not to fup the mixes :). So you know, if there are a couple of rough transitions, that’s why.

Also, I had to code this down quite a bit to fit the size requirement on mixcloud, but you can grab a better copy here.
