LoDeck & Blockhead

Fresh Boris of Bensonhurst Episode 2 “The Mini-Bar: Mini-Concoctions for MAXIMUM IMPACT™ “

New joint out from LoDeck (Johnny23) and Blockhead (Ninja Tune).. cop the digital album over at CDBaby right now, or go to Decks site and pre-order the CD (comes with a bonus track not available anywhere else).

I haven’t heard this myself yet… but a Deck & Blockhead collaboration?! C’mon…  it can’t be bad.

Johnny23, New Homepage

johnny23

Found out today that the guys from Johnny23 got their new website up… and a new message board. Get over there and pick up the new Jak Progresso album Pestilence and Mutilator by Will Taubin & Boxguts… Should be good! And also swing in on the board. Seems they just got it up, not much activity yet, but I’m sure that’s gonna change.

Well.. that was that. Now I’m gonna continue looking for a new mixer (anybody got a Mackie 1402-VLZ3 they wanna sell me real cheap?), with a short break for grocery shopping.. fun times.

LoDeck & Critical Remixes

Critical Two new remixes up on the myspace for your listening pleasure, first one’s my submission for the Critical “Remember” Remix Competition. I didn’t take it, but I’m very happy with how it came out and I got good praise from Ide, Critical and the rest of the judges. This is what they had to say.. “Everyone loved this beat, changed the entire sound, made for a sick remix. We def. want to hear more stuff from Magowl. The over all mix was a lil low fi, which was why it didnt make top 3″. So pop over and give it a spin, and make sure you check out the Creative Juices myspace and homepage as well.

LoDeckAnd the second one is “Applause” by LoDeck (from the Johnny23 camp), which was originally produced by Blockhead. I really like this one as well, but it was a beast of a beat to get control of because of all the automation… lfos, flangers, gates, delays and reverbs going off all over, I had to use maybe 2-3 times the number of channels I usually need. I think I managed to pull it off at last tho, but it took it’s sweet time hehe. Go check it out! Cheers!

tips
There has dropped a couple of really good hip-hop albums lately, nothing that happens too often imho. I thought I’d give a heads up, so they don’t pass you by. I’ve touched on a couple before but I threw em in anyway. And to answer any rising questions.. no there are no download links. There are however links to where you can buy yourself the CDs. Lodeck & Omega One

Postcards from the Third Rock Lodeck (great MC) and Omega One (one of my favorite producers), have teamed up for the album Postcards from the Third Rock. In Europe it’s available on Aug 29th, while the rest of the world will have to wait a little longer. I just wanted to push this album a lil because.. well.. I’m looking forward to it, and I’m gonna grab it as soon as it hits the shelves. It’s a double CD, with CD2 being the instrumentals. Y’all can check on Johnny23′s homepage, forum or myspace for updates about this and future releases.
