Beat Feed Instrumentals – Episode 26

The official blurb:

The marvelous production of MagOwl revisits the show with the beat to Brooklyn Academy‘s track “Splash ft. Killah Priest”. That’s off BK Academy’s latest release Bored of Education. Second is a beat to a track I already consider a classic and happens to feature BK Academy MC Block McCloud on the chorus. It’s Sean Price‘s single “Mess You Made” and it’s produced by Masse of the Salizar Brothers. Jesus Price Superstar is the album for that single. We wrap up number 26 with the legendary Kool Keith‘s 1997 album Sex Style, where he goes by the alias “Big Willie Keith. The beat is for the song “Little Girls” produced by KutMasta Kurt. So here’s a couple more from the same dude that upped the previous Smutsit ones. Maybe I should say that the ones rapping on Bänga Ventiler are Hektor Detektor & Råland Hustle, with Hektor going solo on Konstiga Aktiviteter. On these new ones we got Wolf & Hektor on Allt Är Smutsit and Lion & Wolf on We Hold The Fort. Both of these new ones were produced by Lion. Photos in the Royal vid by yours truly once again.

Threw in a vid of my tune for Brooklyn Academys debut as well, not the best audio quality perhaps, but yeah, anyways… there you have it. Enjoy!

You can grab the mp3s of the Smutsit/Royal tunes in the download section here as well.. just so y’all know.

There has dropped a couple of really good hip-hop albums lately, nothing that happens too often imho. I thought I’d give a heads up, so they don’t pass you by. I’ve touched on a couple before but I threw em in anyway. And to answer any rising questions.. no there are no download links. There are however links to where you can buy yourself the CDs. Brooklyn Academy 01Debut album from Brooklyn Academy dropping on July 22nd… 10+ years in the making. Brooklyn Ac is Block McCloud, Mr. Metaphor & Pumpkinhead. Y’all can pre-order it on UGHH, or if you in Sweden and prefer megastore… go there.

So why am I telling you this?

Well.. I produced one of the tunes on there, namely “Splash” which features Killah Priest. To be honest i remixed it, the original version of the track is on Brooklyn Ac’s myspace.. but that is not the one I made and won’t be on the album. Just thought I’d make that clear. I’m not gonna post any audio preview this time.. at least not right now. Maybe I’ll update this post with the tune later on, we’ll see. There are a couple of live vids if you expand the post tho. Oh and if you’re wondering about the cover.. I haven’t seen it yet myself.

Here’s an excerpt from a good writeup on BloomBlog, head over there to read the whole story and make sure you check the follow-up as well. One of the pics show a sneak peak of the cover.. not the best perhpas, but if you’re curious!
Brooklyn Academy 02

Pumpkinhead, Block McCloud and Mr. Metaphor all grew up in the same area of Park Slope, Brooklyn submerged in music and hip-hop culture. There had been random quasi-encounters here and there—Pumpkinhead and Met attending the same junior high school, Block hearing about Pumpkinhead’s battling abilities through a friend, etc.—but it wasn’t until an arranged freestyle battle between Block and Pump in 1995 that the two officially met. (Looking back, one will quickly concede defeat to the other but you’ll have to ask who beat who.) Around the same time, Block, Metaphor and producer Will Tell formed Word A’ Mouth, whose “Famous Last Words” unanimously became the highlight of the much-lauded Lyricist Lounge, Volume One. Finally in 1996, the trio came together to release classic underground singles like “Blind Fury” and “Russian Roulette” and a movement was born.

Other producers include Illmind, Will Tell, Snowgoons, Black Milk to name a few. Guests on the album are Ill Bill, Will Tell, Jean Grae, Killa Priest and more. Make sure y’all peep this and you can keep checking back here as well as I’ll try to keep updating if I find anything new and interesting to post.

Cheers!
