Finally bagged myself a pair of monitors, KRK RP6 G2′s to be precise. Spent a fair amount of hours in several different listening rooms checking out different ones, but for the price, these ones gave me the most bang for the buck I thought. Of course there were “better” sounding ones, but you know, the price went way way up.. so maybe sometime in the future.
I’ve only tested em out on a couple of different beats so far, and they do feel relatively accurate, to my ears at least. Plus I still got my old crappy Sony hifi speakers for reference and my trusty old Beyerdynamic DT-250 headphones. So between these three I’m hoping it’ll make mixing a bit easier, which it really hasn’t been up to this point. I’ll have to get back to you how it works out.
I still need to figure out some placing for em tho.. pretty crowded on my desk at the moment. Thinking about a quick rearrange involving a pair of longer DVI cables for my computer monitors, or, as an alternative, some form of tripods or stands for the KRK’s. Easiest solution would be the first I think, but.. that would sort of f-up my little batcave here.. it’ll require some serious coffee drinking and thought…
