Scrunchface Show #50: The CHOP THIS! Edition

This was the Chop This Edition of The Scrunchface Show (SFS#50). What does that mean then? Well, Dart Adams/Producers I Know posted up a bunch of tunes (25 of them) with his #diggasknow twitter posts and wanted producers to chop up those specific samples for it. Beat Feed Instrumentals – Episode 56

In this single producer showcase, we feature an exceptional artist who’s no stranger to the feed, the mighty MagOwl. I’ve had the pleasure of being involved with two projects with him so far, Breez Evahflowin‘s Unearthed Past release and just recently Breez’s As He Goes On LP, and hope to collab with him more in the near future. He’s also a graph artist, painter and photographer, but of course we’re featuring MagOwl the musician, so lets get into the tracks featured here. First up is the beat for a Blame One joint “The Illest ft. Anthony Rutkowski”. This is one of a couple songs off Blame’s new LP Endurance that was produced by MagOwl. Second is a track produced for Atari Blitzkrieg called “An Evening in Tokyo featuring Fuca Chan”. This cut is off Perfect Blue, a release from Atari dedicated to the influential anime director Satoshi Kon, who recently lost his battle with cancer. Closing out the episode is the beat for the song “Men Behind the Sun ft. Jak Progresso”. That’s off the Unusual Suspects release Unusuowl. A fitting name indeed. You know the science. DJ Suva played two of my tracks last night on Remixta, both off The Sowl Files, and I was in good company I have to say… some killer tracks in the playlist. So y’all should check it out over at the site, here’s a direct link to the latest episode. Remixta is a podcast playing tracks made in the lovely music application Renoise, keep reading for some more info.

Remixta is a monthly music podcast run by estonian DJ Suva and dedicated to playing music made with Renoise tracker. During the month, I collect all the new Renoise music from Renoise Forums, SoundCloud, Myspace and the tracks people send me directly. I choose the tracks I like the best and play them in 40 minute to 1h DJ set Live over IceCast. Everyone can tune in and listen the live show, and if they miss it, they can always relisten the podcast form of the show.

Stumbled over a new live set from the Yardcore crew last night, recorded over at Sub.fm. And because I very much enjoyed the last ones I found from em, I grabbed this one as well… It didn’t disappoint! Specially from 1.30h onwards.. hard hard!

If you’re looking for the old sets I mentioned you can find em over at their homepage. The set by Rrritalin from that night isn’t there though and I’ve failed to track a link down just now, but I’m sure it’s out there somewhere. It is by far my fav mix of the four, so if you can find it grab it!
