Noah23 – Sea Of The Infinite Wave feat. Myka 9 & Ceschi (magOwl Remix)

My remix of Noha23′s track Sea Of The Infinite Wave featuring Myka 9 & Ceschi, for the remix competition held by Fake Four Inc.

I feel I might have over produced it a little (and I was thinking I’d go in and try to fix that), but it is what it is, and I’m not gonna mess with it any more, at least for now.

LouisDen League 2011

Yup it’s that time of year again, time for this years incarnation of the LouisDen League! Promised to be bigger, better & harder then ever before; man I’m looking forward to it!

So how do you participate you ask. Well, head over to the Louisden forum, sign up and then go to this post and read all about it. The short version is that you have to mail in your interest, dig out 10 songs for the sample pool & then participate in the “Dope Ass Beat” challenge to decide which division you will start out in.

So if you feel you can make one beat a week for around 12 weeks, go ahead and enter, it’s all good fun!

See you there…

Renoise OHC’s

Here’s two slightly fixed up Renoise IRC chat OHC (One Hour Competition) tunes, both still very much not done, or mixed properly. First one is some form of breakbeat thing from the 2nd of March this year and the next is a swingy, dirty beat from the other night.

So what is an OHC, the name gives a way part of it, i.e. that you have an hour to make your tune. The other part is that you’re not allowed to use any VST(i)’s or any other sounds then the ones provided in a sample pack made for that specific OHC (and there’s usually not a whole heap of sounds & drums to choose from). So you have to be a little bit creative with what you have to work with, although not too creative; you only  have one hour to complete the tune. Then everybody listens to the entries together (all tunes are anonymous). After hearing all the tunes there’s a vote.. usually top 3 or 5, and a winner is crowned. What do you win you ask.. nothing but the admiration of your peers, but it’s not really about winning, it’s about having fun and pushing yourself. So if you own Renoise and wanna participate, head over to www.renoise.com and find the chat link (main page –> community –> chat).

Hope to see you there!

Soundsci Remix Winners

So.. the announcement was made after a long deliberation between the judges (Jonny Cuba, Audessey, Ollie Teeba, No Sleep Nigel and DJ Cro (that’s the UK DJ Cro, to avoid any confusion)). Yeah, so anyways, I came in third place, which means I’m one of the three winners of this little competition.. good stuff!
First place was snatched by Ashoke aka Boom Op, and second place by Ajuda (got no link for Ajuda.. sorry). Check the tunes in the player below!

As you might hear my tune is a little bit different here compared to the one I put up a couple of weeks ago, nothing major tho… and of course check Soundsci (buy the album.. it’s great!), Crate Escape Records & DJ Cro’s blog. Cheers!

Yppah

yppahYppah is back. The young Mexican-American from Texas debuted on Ninja Tune in 2006 with his album, “You Are Beautiful At all Times,” and now, in the build up to his sophomore effort, “They Know What Ghost Know,” he returns with the superb “Gumball Weekend Machine EP”, released on the 13th April. Fashioning a rockier sound than last time out, the EP draws on a cultural heritage that took in My Bloody Valentine alongside hip hop and which is heavily influenced by various forms of electronic music, psychedelic soul and rock.

In celebration of this single release we are giving away the parts in order for you to remix and upload your version of the track. Simply download the parts below and upload via the uploader to have a chance of being entered into the comeptition.

The winner will be selected on the album release date of the 18th May and will potentially have their remix released on the next Yppah single on Ninja Tune.
