Fotosöndag / Sko

Untitled

My submission for this weeks Fotosöndag, the theme was shoe. I had a couple to choose from but this one edged it in the end (I might up one or two of the rejects later on).

I have to say though, as I mainly do street photography these days, capturing shoe wasn’t the easiest. Well, it isn’t hard per say, but getting down low, down to ass height of your subject(s), without coming off as completely creepy was the challenge :) I did try the old shoot-from-the-hip technique on one outing, but I didn’t get any worthy shots, everything was skewed and off the mark (guess I need practice in that department). So I decided to bite the bullet and just get down low and shoot, which got me the shots fairly quickly along with a moderate amount of discomfort. Probably a lesson in there somewhere…

Nikon D7000, manual 28mm f/2.8 @ f/8, 1/250, pre-focused at around a meter and a half.

Edit… Here are 2 of the rejects…

Made my way down to the Royal Palace Sprint the other day. Basically it’s a cross-country sprint event where the track goes around the royal castle here in Stockholm.
Lots of people, not so many great spots to shoot from (unless you’d pushed your way to the front, which isn’t really all that cool of a thing to do).
Also I think this was the first time ever I shot a sports event, not really my forte to be honest. It was a nice day though.

And here are four pics from the test roll I took with my old Voigtländer Vito Automatic. Completely unedited; straight from the lab.
Seems there might be some time issues, or it’s just incredibly “shake” sensitive, not sure what is going on. I’ll probably pop another couple of rolls in it and try to figure out what the issue is.

It still produced some interesting images though, well I think so anyways…

Yashica Test Roll

Three images from the test roll I took with my new Yashica Electro 35 GS. Shot without battery, which means a fixed time at 1/500, using sunny 16.  Completely unedited; straight from the lab.

Love how they came out, sharp & creamy! As usual you can click the thumbs to go to my flickr where you can see them in larger sizes.

Yashica Electro 35 GS

Got my Yashica Electro yesterday along with a little Rollei flash, can’t wait to get out and take her for a spin. Still waiting for the battery modification I ordered though (they don’t make the batteries for it anymore). Until I get it I can only shoot it at 1/500, but I’ll probably get by using the sunny 16 rule for a roll or two to check it out; it could be good to know if the light seals needs replacing and whatnot, it is from 1970 after all.
