About The Site
This site started out as a platform for me (magOwl), Sol and our joint music/art project called Sowl. Sowl is no more and I now run this page by myself. As you probably figured out, the focus of Sowl.org has shifted.
So besides posts about what I’m up to you’ll find more or less anything I stumble over that I find interesting enough to warrant mentioning. That might include Art, Photography, Music, Remix Competitions, Politics, the occasional rant, or anything else between heaven and hell. I will try to update on a daily basis, which will most likely fail.. but I will try.
About magOwl: The Musician
I’m a Swedish beatmaker and I have been doing it for a long time now, since the early 90s (there have been breaks, both long and short). I also do some dubstep and other electronic music under the alias Kvartersakuten.
I was a member of the two Swedish hiphop groups, Smutist & Royal Blood, and I made music with Sol as Sowl.
I work mostly in a lovely app called Renoise these days, but I still use the ol’ workhorse Cubase once in a while. Before internets and muscle PC’s I was on the Atari (love that machine), I mainly used it as a midi sequencer via Cubase. Which brings me to my oldest love.. the Ensoniq EPS 16+, the dirty griminess of that machine still amazes me.
As of now I’ve worked with Brooklyn Academy, Johnny23, Atari Blitzkrieg, Breez Evahflowin, Silent Knight, Bluevibe Studio, Don Goliath, Blame One and others.
About magOwl: The Man
A personal, direct and slightly abstract observation about myself.
I am magOwl. I am mostly human. I am 33. I am a musician, producer, painter, photographer. I am not the most social person around, I am however quite friendly. I am an agnostic atheist. I like 60s-70s Japanese experimental flicks. I like, and listen to, every genre of music there is…almost. I’ve studied religious history & art history at the University. Strong spirits make me go bonkers…not that I ever learn. I went to art school. I got a nack for getting myself into Catch-22 situations. I used to work as a mover. I’m a leg man. I sport a square, brown aura. I’ve had a full beard for as long as I’ve had facial hair. I like abstract art. I like vinyls. I like tags (and tagging…shh). I smoke too much & drink too much when I go out. I exercise a lot… in intervals… I got this year off. I live in Stockholm, Sweden… The former land of just enough, now the land of Government -84 & Brave New Worldian citizens.
Eccentrically introvert I move forward standing still.
